What’s A Matter With People?

On Facebook and Twitter, I post quotes from time to time. I have Posted Quotes from the Old and New Testament of the bible, from many different translations from the KJV to the NIT. I have also quoted the Qur’an, the Bhagavad Gita, also quoted some prominent Atheists like Richard Dawkins, from “The God Delusion”, and another book i can’t remember what one it was off hand. I have quoted depressing quotes and uplifting quotes, to quotes that are just quotes.

But quote from the Doctrines & Covenants, That’s apparently a no-no. I got DM’s on twitter and PM’s on Facebook all about how its a NO NO. I can sum up all my DM’s and PM’s in one quote :

The Mormon Church is a false Church. You should not be reading any false material.

To that i have asked, “What about my Qur’an quotes?” I don’t normally get a answer to that though or I am told the same thing about Islam. When they say the same thing about Islam then that is fair, but still why all the hell about this one quote and not the one from the Qur’an? For those interested the quote from the D&C was D&C 90:15

… become acquainted with all good books, and with languages, tongues, and people.

So I can quote traditional Christian Text, Islamic text, stuff from Atheists that slam believers. I just can’t quote anything from Mormonism, OK.

On another note, I have this one Mormon friend that done lost his mind. And now thinks I am becoming a Mormon. Him and I got into a little argument, respectful one, over it. The end result is that I have agreed to visit one of his churches by the end of this year. Now he would not end the little debate until I promised to go see one of his churches. He knows me from elementary school and knows that I will do what I “promise” to do, if i promise, and not just agree. I think this will be a somewhat interesting experience. To my friends that I said that I would go the Sunday after I agreed, I did not expect my mom’s van to get a flat tire.

I what to know what you think. Anonymous Comments are allowed and you don’t even need a E-mail address anymore, but I will see how this goes. If I get to much spam you will need a name and E-mail address again. And just to see the Mormon reaction, and My Mormon Friend was interested on why i did not blatantly insult The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. So the Photo in the upper Corner is to do a blatant insult for him.

Seems like they are insecure. They are worried that the Mormons are gaining in numbers while most other christians religions are losing numbers. Most likely they get a little talking to from their priest/pastor/whatever every so often to reaffirm such a negative stance toward the Mormons. I am not a Mormon, I am a Jehovah’s Witness, and the same thing happens to us. Try telling your friend that you are talking with a Jehovah’s Witness and see his reaction then. Probably the same I would figure.

Remember, they are told that Morman’s will burn in hell. They don’t react too much to Islam, because they believe that most people they know most likely not convert to Islam. It is too foreign, although it happens more than you think. But Mormons are supposedly christian, not so foreign. Although I can never get over the idea of baptizing people after they die. I don’t think all Mormons do that, but apparently some do.

If you want to have some fun, ask them about Ecclesiastes 9:4,5 – Psalms 146:4 – and Revelation 20:13, 14. According to the doctrine of hellfire Hades, also commonly known as hell is a place where the wicked spend eternity being tortured while being in a fully conscious state. These scriptures disagree with that though. That should get your friends really buzzing.

  I get some bad reaction from my more religious relitives for having friends that are Jehovah’s Witness. I think this was more noticed because it was on the internet and all was a bit more noticeable.
